Hot Cocoa for One

Combine:
1/2 cup dry instant nonfat dry milk,
1 tbs. sugar
1 1/2 tbs. baking cocoa in mug or cup, stir in 1 cup boiling water.

Garnish with Whipped Cream or miniature marshmallows before serving, if desired...

Makes 1 serving.

Mini Corn Dogs

Slide each of a 14 oz pkg mini hot dogs lengthwise onto wooden skewers.
Combine 1 cup pancake mix, 1 egg, and 1/2 cup water.

Pour vegetable oil into a saucepan, heat to 350°.
Dip dogs in batter then in oil until golden, 30 seconds, then serve with ketchup or mustard for dipping if desired...

Makes 6 servings.

Sure Fire, No Fire S'mores-Paula Deen

6 sandwich cookies
6 whole graham crackers
1 bag mini marshmallows
3 (1.55 ounces) Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars, split into 2

Split graham cracker into 2 halves. On top of graham cracker squares place mini-marshmallows.
Place under broiler for a few seconds until toasty. Remove and place 1/2 of a Hershey bar on top of marshmallow.
The heat from the marshmallow will melt the chocolate bar. Place other 1/2 of graham cracker on top.
Press lightly to flatten marshmallows.
These may be made ahead and wrapped in plastic wrap until ready to heat and eat.

Salt Dough Ornaments

1 C. flour
1/4 C. salt
6 tbsp. water

Combine flour and salt. Then add water. Dough should be soft but not sticky. Knead until all salt is worked in and dough is smooth.
Roll out and cut with cookie cutters. Make hole for hanger.
Bake at 275 degrees for 3 hours, check periodically.
They are done when completely hard.

Cool before painting with felt tip markers or paint and coat with high gloss polyurethane.

Look pretty with nop paint and only the High gloss polyurethane on them.

Tree Ornaments

2 C. baking soda (1 lb. box)
1 C. cornstarch
1 1/4 C. water

Combine and mix thoroughly. Stir over medium heat until low boil. *Continue stirring until dough-like consistency.
Cool in airtight container or plastic bag in refrigerator. When dough cools knead and roll out to 1/4 inch thickness.
Use cookie cutters to make the shapes desired. With the end of a pencil make a small hole for hanging ornament.

Place shapes on a wax paper lined cookie sheet and allow to dry for 1- 2 days. Don't turn over to dry; might result in cracking.

Simple Stained Glass Tree Ornamnets

1 bag looped pretzels
Assorted hard candies
Curling ribbon for hanging

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place pretzels on cookie sheet covered with aluminum foil.
Place hard candy in Baggies and crush with hammer into coarse pieces. Fill the bottom 2 loops of each pretzel with candy pieces.

Bake until candy is melted, about 5 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.
When candy is cool, peel carefully from aluminum foil and break off any candy that has leaked out of the loops.

Cinnamon Ornaments

1 1/2 C. cinnamon
1 C. applesauce

Mix ingredients. Knead. Roll out. Cut with cookie cutter. If this is to be an ornament put a hole in the top while wet.
Dry flat on wax paper overnight. Then lay on cookie rack until dry completely. Thread with ribbon - hang on trees, wreaths, etc.
Will hold its smell for a long time.

DO NOT EAT!

Salt Dough Ornaments

1 C. sugar
1 C. water

Mix all ingredients. Knead 4-6 minutes.
Shape into ornaments or cut with cookie cutters.
You can divide dough into balls and use food coloring to make different colors.

Pop Tarts -Raspberry

1 Packet (2 x 9-inch) Refrigerated Pie Crusts, at room temperature

Raspberry Jam

Egg Wash
1 Egg + 1 Tbsp Of Water or Milk, lightly beaten

Lemon Glaze


1/4 Cup Powdered/Confectioners’ Sugar


About 1 Tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice


Sprinkles (any flavor)


Equipment
2 ½ to 3 inches Cookie Cutter (any shape)
Baking Sheet, lined with parchment paper

Method
Preheat the oven to 375 ˚F/190˚C.

Unroll the pie crust on a lightly floured work surface, cut the dough into desire cookie cutter.

Chili Dog Soup

1 pound ground beef
1 package hot dogs, cut up
1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
2 (16 ounce) cans dark red kidney beans, undrained
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
Salt and pepper
1 cup shredded cheese
1 bag Fritos Corn Chips

Cook ground beef. Drain. Stir in hot dogs, diced tomatoes, kidney Beans, tomato sauce, salt and pepper.
Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve over Frito chips and top with cheese.

Zippy Chicken Fingers

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into strips
Juice of 1 lemon
Poultry seasoning to taste
1 1/2 C. seasoned dry bread crumbs
1/4 C. oil

Place chicken strips in a bowl; sprinkle with lemon juice, then with poultry seasoning to taste.

Spread bread crumbs in a shallow dish; coat each chicken strip with crumbs.

Pour oil in a 13x9-inch baking pan; arrange strips on top.
Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 20 minutes, turning once, until golden.

Pepperoni Pizza Wraps

1/2 cup pizza sauce
4 (7- or 8-inch) flour tortillas
4 ounces (1 cup) shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 (3.5 ounce) package pepperoni slices

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Spread pizza sauce evenly over tortillas to within 1 inch of edges. Sprinkle each evenly with cheese.

Arrange 1/4 of pepperoni slices down center of each tortilla. Roll up each tortilla; wrap each in foil.
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until thoroughly heated and cheese is melted.

Cake In A Mug

1 Micowave safe 12 ounce or larger mug
1 Cake mix any flavor
1 - four serving size, instant pudding mix

Throughly mix dry ingredients together put 1/2 cup of dry mix in mug

Flavor Ideas:
Yellow cake mix/pistachio pudding
Devils food cake mix/ chocolate pudding
Butterscotch cake mix/ butterscotch pudding
Spice cake/banana instant pudding
Lemon cake mix/ lemon pudding
Yellow cake mix/ vanilla pudding or french vaniila

Spray or grease mug and add
1/2 C. Mix,
1 tablespoon egg white
1 tablesppom oil
1 tablespoon water
Mix with a fork

Pretzels Sparklers

Long rod pretzels
White chocolate, melted
Sprinkles (red, white and blue) or star cake decorations

Melt the white chocolate.
Dip the pretzel rod halfway into the melted chocolate then sprinkle the sprinkles over the wet chocolate.
Lay on waxed paper or place in a cup to dry.

3 1/2 cups fresh orange juice
1 liter lemon-lime soda

Combine all ingredients in a pitcher. Divide into smaller pitchers for easy serving.
Serve over ice.

Pizza Fondue

1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onoins
21 ounces cans pizza sauce with cheese
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon basil
2 teaspoons oregano
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
8 ounces cheddar cheese -- grated
4 ounces mozzarella cheese -- grated
1 each French bread loaf -- cubed

Brown ground beef and onions. Drain off excess fat.
Add pizza sauce, cornstarch, basil, oregano, and garlic powder. Stir well and bring to a boil. Simmer 5 minutes to blend flavors. Combine cheeses; stir in 1/3 at a time.

When piping hot, pour into fondue pot and serve immediately.

Corn Dogs

1 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup yellow or white corn meal
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup milk
1 large egg, beaten
1 package (16-oz.) hot dogs, patted dry
8 (6-inch) wooden skewers
1 cup vegetable oil

Combineflour, corn meal, sugar and baking powder in medium bowl.
Combine milk and egg in small bowl. Add to flour mixture; mix just until blended (batter will be thick). Spread batter into shallow plate or dish. Insert skewers into hot dogs.
Add oil to 2-inch depth in electric skillet or large skillet; heat to 350 degrees F.

Caramel Popcorn Balls

1 bag (3.5 oz) microwave popcorn (any variety), popped
1 cup coarsely crushed peanut brittle (6 oz)
1 bag (14 oz) caramels
1 tablespoon water
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Butter bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan. Remove and discard unpopped kernels from popped popcorn.

In large bowl, mix popcorn and peanut brittle.

In 4-cup microwavable measuring cup, microwave caramels and water uncovered on High 2 to 4 minutes, stirring every minute, until smooth. Stir in vanilla.

Pour over popcorn mixture; toss until evenly coated. Press in pan with buttered hands.

Chocolate Snack Blocks

3 Envelopes Unflavored Gelatin
3/4 C. Cold Water
1 C. Boiling Water
1/3 C. Granulated Sugar
2 C. (12 Ounces) Semi-Sweet Chocolate Mini Chips

In a blender, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water and let stand for 5 minutes. Add the boiling water and sugar, cover and blend on low speed until the gelatin is completely dissolved, about 2
minutes.
Continue to blend, gradually adding small amounts of the chocolate chips until the chips are melted and the mixture is smooth.

Pour into an 8- or 9-inch square pan.

Carmel Corn Pop

1 Box (10.9 oz) Corn Pops
1 C. Pecan halves
1/2 C. Butter
1 C. Sugar
1/2 C. Light corn syrup
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp. Baking soda

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

Combine cereal and nuts in a greased, large, shallow baking pan.

In a saucepan, bring butter, sugar and corn syrup to a boil and cook for 5 min.
Remove from heat: add vanilla and soda.
Pour caramel mixture over cereal and nuts; stir well.
Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 min.
Pour onto waxed paper and break apart; allow to cool.

Store in airtight container.

Makes 10 cups.

6 frankfurters
1/2 cup yellow corn meal
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk
1 large egg
vegetable oil for frying

Pat frankfurters dry and set aside. In a bowl whisk together the cornmeal, flour, salt, and baking powder.
In a small bowl whisk together the milk and egg until combined. Add the milk mixture into the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.

In a deep pot heat 3 to 4 inches of oil to 375 degrees F. Dip a frankfurter in the batter and coat completely.
Fry until browned about 2 to 3 minutes.

Cardamon Funnel Cakes

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cardamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 to 1 1/4 cups milk

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cardamon, and salt in a mixing bowl.
Combine beaten eggs and 1 cup milk; pour into flour mixture and stir until smooth.
If batter is too heavy, add additional milk. Batter should pour in a heavy stream.

Pour about 1/3 cup of batter into funnel. (Hold finger over end as funnel is filled.)

Deep Fried Mars Bars

1 Mars Bar (UK) or Milky Way (US)
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup corn flour
A pinch of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda to Yanks)
Milk or beer
Oil for deep frying

Directions:
Chill the chocolate bar by keeping it in the fridge, but don't freeze it.
Mix the flours and bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) together.

Add milk (traditional) or beer (which gives a lighter result) until you get a batter with the consistency of thin cream.

Heat the oil until a small piece of bread will brown in a few seconds, but don't allow to smoke.

Deep Fried Twinkies

6 Twinkies
Popsicle sticks
4 cups vegetable oil
Flour for dusting
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 Tablespoon oil
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions
Chill or freeze Twinkies for several hours or overnight.

Heat 4 cups vegetable oil in deep fryer to about 375 degrees.

Mix together milk, vinegar and oil.

In another bowl, blend flour, baking powder and salt.

Whisk wet ingredients into dry and continue mixing until smooth. Refrigerate while oil heats.

Easy Doughnuts for Kids

1 can biscuits
Butter flavored Crisco

Fill fry pan with Crisco and melt. Have kids shape biscuits into doughnut.

Fry in Crisco until brown and both sides. Pat dry with paper towel.

Shake in powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar.

Cool 'n Creamy Chocolate Pie

2 small pkgs. Jell-O instant pudding
1-3/4 cups milk
3-1/2 cups Cool Whip
1 prepared graham cracker crust

Stir pudding into milk. Stir in Cool Whip.
Spoon into crust.
Refrigerate.

Broken Window Glass Salad

3 small packages Jello (orange, cherry, and lime)
1 small package lemon Jello
1/4 C. sugar
1/2 C. pineapple juice
4 C. boiling water
1 1/2 C. cold water
2 C. whipped cream

Prepare the orange, cherry, and lime Jello separately, using 1 cup boiling water and 1/2 cup cold water for each.
Pour each flavor into separate 8-inch square pans. Chill until firm.

Combine the lemon Jello, sugar, and remaining cup of boiling water. Stir until dissolved. Stir in pineapple juice. Chill until slightly thickened. Cut the firm Jello into 1/2- inch squares.

Apple Tortilla Turnovers

8 flour tortillas
1 can apple pie filling
3 Tbsp. butter
3 Tbsp. oil
sugar and cinnamon

Over medium high heat melt butter and oil.
On one half of a flour tortilla place a couple of tablespoons of apple pie filling. Fold over.

Fry each side in butter and oil (about 2-3 minutes each side, until light brown).

Sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
Serve hot with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
