Homemade Biscuit Mix

Homemade Biscuit Mix

Ingredients:
10 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup baking powder
2 tablespoons white sugar2 teaspoons salt
1 1/4 cups vegetable oil

Directions:
1.Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl.
Add oil and mix with a fork or pastry blender; you should have small lumps throughout the mixture.
2.Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to three months

Chocolate Chunk Coffeecake Mix in a Jar

Mix ingredients:

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chunks
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together in mixing bowl.
Transfer mixture to 1-quart wide-mouth jar. Add sugar, then nuts and then chocolate.
Seal jar.

Decorate jar and attach the following instructions on a gift tag:

Chocolate Chunk Coffeecake:
Makes 12 to 16 servings

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Lemon Skin Toner

1/2 cup lemon juice
1 cup distilled water
2/3 cup witch hazel

Combine all ingredients. Pour into a clean bottle or decorative cosmetics container. Shake well before using.
Apply with a clean cotton ball.

Note: Lemon is a strong astringent, dilute with water before using, being careful to keep away from eyes

Lemon Soak (for dry, rough feet)

Juice of 1 lemon
Add lemon juice to warm water in bowl. Soak feet for 15 to 20 minutes.

Natural Lemon Skin Exfoliant

1/2 to 2/3 C. granulated sugar
Juice of 1 lemon

Mix sugar and lemon juice to form a paste.
While showering invigorate your skin with the paste. Use the inside of the
lemon rind to rub heels and elbows.

Strawberry Toner

1/2 C. mashed strawberries
1/2 C. sour cream or plain yogurt

Purée ingredients in a blender at low speed until sell mixed and fluffy.
Apply to face and neck; rinse with tepid water after 30 minutes.
If mask is too runny after blending, refrigerate for one hour. Make mask the day you plan to use it.

For oily skin.

Swimmers Hair Care Recipe

Swimming pool hair care- to keep blonde hair from turning green

2 TBSP baking soda
1/4 C lemon juice
1 tsp mild shampoo

Mix together all ingredients until well blended.
Wet hair and massage mixture well into hair and scalp, making sure hair ends are coated.

Cover hair with plastic bag or shower cap and leave on 30 minutes.

Rinse hair well and shampoo as usual.

Apple Tart Soap

4oz. Clear, Unscented Glycerine Soap
1 Tablespoon Liquid Soap
1 teaspoon Liquid Glycerine
1/2 teaspoon Apple Fragrance Oil
2 Drops Red Food Color
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

Melt soap in small pan over low heat or in a glass cup in the microwave.

Add Liquid Soap and glycerine and stir gently but well. Add fragrance, color and cinnamon.

Stir and let stand a couple minutes, just enough to start to thicken so when you stir again the cinnamon will be more evenly distributed.

Pour into molds. Allow to set completely (in or out of freezer).

Witch Hazel Skin Clarifier

3/4 C. witch hazel
1/4 C. rubbing alcohol

Mix the ingredients and store in a tightly capped, sterilized glass bottle.
To use, moisten a clean cotton ball and clean your face with this solution after washing and before applying moisturizer.
Your skin should feel tingly while using this clarifier.

Homemade Furniture Polish

Materials:
Spray bottle
Lemon oil
White vinegar
Cloth diapers

1. Fill the spray bottle with 1/2 lemon oil and 1/2 white vinegar.
2. Shake bottle and spray mixture on furniture, rubbing with soft diaper.

Onion Soup Mix

Ingredients
3/4 C. instant minced onion (buy an inexpensive bottle)
4 tsp. onion powder
1/3 cup beef-flavored bouillon powder (inexpensive bottle is fine)
1/4 tsp. celery seed (crushed fine is best)
1/4 tsp. sugar

Procedure
Mix up and store in a jar.  When you need "one envelope of onion soup mix," use 1/4 cup of this mix.

Sometimes 2 T. of mix is enough to flavor a meat dish.

Ingredients
***FOR VANILLA EXTRACT***

2 vanilla beans -- cut in half lengthwise and chopped
1/2 cup brandy
1/4 cup water

***FOR LEMON EXTRACT***
one lemon -- diced (you should have at least 2 tablespoons), Zest of
1/2 cup vodka
1/4 cup water

***FOR ORANGE EXTRACT***
1/2 navel orange; cut into tiny chunks -- (about 1 1/2 tablespoons), Zest of
1/4 cup vodka
1/2 cup water

Home Made Bead Crumbs

Ingredients
Any stale bread or old bread that isn't moldy
salt and pepper
garlic powder
Parmesan cheese
Italian spices (dried oregano, dried basil, etc.)

Procedure
Tear up the bread into small pieces. Let dry out in a bowl for a couple of days until hard.
Then throw in your spices. Toss well. Then in a blender or food processor ?
make into crumbs.

Put in sealed container.

Candy Cane Bath Salts

Ingredients
2 cups Epsom salts
1/2 c. sea salt
4-6 drops peppermint oil
2-3 drops red food coloring.

Place one cup of Epsom and 1/4 cup sea salt in a bowl or resealable plastic bag.
Add 2-3 drops peppermint oil.

Procedure
Place one cup of Epsom and 1/4 cup sea salt in a bowl or resealable plastic bag.
Add 2-3 drops peppermint oil.

Place the remaining ingredients in a second bowl.Mix all ingredients well.
Layer the red and white salts in a clear bottle or jar.

Tie with a ribbon and some small candy canes.

Multi Purpose Baking Mix Like Bisquick- W/ Recipes

Ingredients
8 cups flour (4c. Unbleached flour + 4c. Whole wheat)
1/4 cup double-acting baking powder
4 tsp. Salt
1 cup shortening (can substitute oil, and keep mix refrigerated)
1 and 1/3 cups dry powdered milk

Procedure
In large bowl, blend together: 4 c. unbleached flour, salt, and baking powder. Add shortening and cut in with pastry blender until it resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in powdered milk, then whole wheat flour. Store in an airtight container or heavy duty Ziploc bag (keeps about 2 months).

Confectioners Sugar Replacement

2 C. nonfat dry milk powder
2 C. cornstarch
1 C. granulated sugar replacement

Procedure
Combine all ingredients in food processor or blender. Whip until well blended and powdered.

Borden's Sweetened Condensed Milk

3/4 C. sugar
1 C--(Plus 2 TBSP.) Powdered milk

Procedure
Combine all ingredients and heat to boiling.
Cook until thick~approx. 15-20 minutes.

Coffee Mixes

Cafe' Vienna
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup dry milk
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Toffee Coffee
1/2 cup non-dairy creamer
1/2 cup packed brown sugar

Mocha Coffee
3/4 cup sugar
1 and 1/8 cup dry milk
2 Tablespoons cocoa powder

Cinnamon- Spice
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon each of cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice

Procedure
Mix all ingredients together in a food processor or blender:

For all, just add 1-2 teaspoons of mix to a cup of prepared coffee.
