Cream Filled Doughnuts

1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup warm water
2 packages active dry yeast
2 eggs, beaten
6 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour (about)
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
4 cups cold milk
2 packages instant pudding (3.4 ounces each)
Scald milk in saucepan; stir in sugar, salt, and butter. Remove from heat and cool to lukewarm.

Jelly Doughnuts

1 cup warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
1/3 cup water
1 egg, beaten
3 tablespoons margarine, melted
3/4 cup white sugar
4 1/2 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
3/4 cup any flavor fruit jam
2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
In a bread machine pan add the milk, water, beaten egg, melted butter, sugar, bread flour, salt, nutmeg, and yeast in the order recommended by
the manufacturer. Set machine to the sweet dough cycle.
Once cycle is completed, turn dough out onto a floured board and let rest for ten minutes.

Bananna Velvet Doughnuts

2 1/2 C. Flour
2 1/2 tsp. Baking powder
1/2 tsp. Baking soda
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
1/2 tsp. Salt
2 Egg
1/2 C. Honey
1 Banana
2 Tblsp. Butter or margarine
1/2 C. Sour cream
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
Fat for deep frying
Sift together dry ingredients. Beat eggs until light.
Add honey gradually and continue beating until well mixed. Beat in mashed banana, butter, sour cream and vanilla.
Stir in flour mixture. (Dough should be soft.) Chill 2 hours or longer. Roll out on floured board about 1/4-inch thick.
Cut with doughnut cutter.

Salvation Army Doughnuts

2 Tblsp. Vegetable shortening
1 C. Sugar
2 Beaten eggs
4 3/4 C. Flour
2 ts Baking powder
1 tsp. Salt
3/4 C. Milk
1/2 tsp. Nutmeg
1/2 tsp. Vanilla powder or-vanilla extract.
Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla if using extract and beat well. Combine dry ingredients (including vanilla if using powder) then sift together. Add dry mixture to creamed mixture, alternating with milk.

Pumpkin Doughnuts with Spiced Butter Glaze

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
1 cup sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup canned solid pack pumpkin
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 eggs plus 1 egg yolk
Vegetable oil for frying
Sift 1 cup flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and spices into mixing bowl. In separate
bowl, stir together pumpkin, butter, and eggs. Add to dry ingredients and mix on medium
speed until smooth, about 30 seconds.

Easy Doughnuts for Kids

1 can biscuits
Butter flavored Crisco
Fill fry pan with Crisco and melt. Have kids shape biscuits into doughnut.
Fry in Crisco until brown and both sides. Pat dry with paper towel.
Shake in powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar.

Buttermilk Doughnuts

2 cups sugar
2 cups buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
4 eggs
pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
10-12 cups flour
Directions:
Mix all ingredients, add enough flour until stiff enough to roll out 1/2 inch thick.
Cut out with donut cutter.
Fry in hot oil til brown. Drain, roll in sugar.

Bread Maker Doughnuts

1/2 cup warm milk
1/2 beaten egg
1/4 cup butter
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
8 cups vegetable oil for frying
Place the milk and egg into the pan of your automatic bread machine, and add the butter, flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in that order, with the yeast on top. Select the dough setting, and start the machine.
When the dough cycle is finished, remove the dough to a floured work surface, and knead a few times to collapse all the bubbles.

Baked Doughnuts

2 packages yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 1/2 cups scalded, cooled milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 eggs
1/3 cup shortening
4 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup melted margarine
cinnamon sugar (for topping)
In large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add milk, next six ingredients and 2 cups of the flour. Blend for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl constantly.
Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Stir in remaining flour until smooth.
Cover and let rise until double in size, about 1 hour.

Baked Cider Doughnuts

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup powdered milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 eggs, beaten
1 tablespoon honey
1 cup unsweetened apple juice concentrate, thawed 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Lightly grease the doughnut pan with cooking spray.
In a large bowl, stir together the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, powdered milk, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
