Homemade Zote Laundry Detergent with Fabric Softener

1 (3 lb 7 oz) Box of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
2 (14.1 oz) Bars of Zote Soap (or Fels Naptha)
1 (4 lb) Box of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda
1 (4 lb 12 oz) Box of Borax
1-2 (55 oz) Bottle of Purex Crystals Fabric Softener (optional)
1-(3 lb) Container of OxyClean-(optional)

Mix all ingredients together, well.

Use 1-2 Tblsp. per load.
for whites or clothes that heavily soiled you can presoak the clothes for 15-30 minutes (or overnight) before washing. Wash and dry as usual.

If you have added te Purex Chrystals ( I love the purex Chrystals) you will not need to add a fabric Softener

If you opted to leave the Purex Chrystals
you can make your own fabric softner by adding:
I have done this many times and it works very well

1 C. Baking Soda
6 C.White Vinegar
6 C. Hot Tap Water
2 C. cheap hair conditioner or 2 C of your favorite store bought fabric softener- I used Downey

This also makes ALOT Of fabric softener.

Stir together. Shake or mix together.
Put in containers/jars until ready to use

Before you use it and add the same amount to your rinse cylce as you would with any other liquid fabric softener.

Prefer the dryer sheets then trying to catch the rinse cycle - Don't we all seem to miss it :(

Simply take a washcloth and soak it in the Homemade Fabric Softener Mixture and wring it out well. Toss it in your dryer with your clothes.
